Location :Conestogo, ON Department :Turf Reports To :Course Superintendent Classification :Full-time seasonal (must be available to work any shift including early mornings, days, weekends & holidays)

Summary : The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. Under the Superintendent's supervision, the Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and all other related aspects of the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent supervises the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment; and does related work as required. The Assistant Superintendent may serve in the superintendent's capacity during his/her absence. The Assistant Superintendent should provide the team with the training and resources necessary to achieve personal and organizational objectives and possess a positive attitude. We are seeking a motivated individual who is looking to advance their career within the golf course industry. Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.

Primary Responsibilities : Assist in motivating, managing and leading our team to achieve our goals- Contribute in implementing programs to train, communicate and direct

  • maintenance and projects on the course.- Operate, upgrade and maintain the current irrigation system including wells,
  • pumps and automatic or manual controls.- Train, mentor and lead team members in the safe operation and care of
  • equipment- Assists the Superintendent in planning and supervising the maintenance of
  • greens, tees and fairways.- Provides schedules for team members and plays a leadership role for daily
  • activities as well as leads a weekend team- Cultivates a team environment and a commitment to excellence in all areas of
  • your work.- Contribute to the fertility and chemical control of weeds, pests and disease of the
  • playing surfaces.- Assists the superintendent with the Integrated Pest Management Control and

record keeping with a high attention to details.

Qualifications : Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens- Experience in the safe operation of golf course maintenance equipment.

  • Basic knowledge in equipment maintenance and set up is an asset
  • Effective communication skills
  • A willingness to learn with a reliable and strong work ethic
  • Computer skills an asset
  • A valid Pesticide Licence or a willingness to obtain one within the first year of
  • employment- IPM accreditation is an asset but not necessary
