This short-term position will serve the Office of Student Experience and Leadership, a department that supports Experiential Learning ( student leadership, service learning, co-ops), Civic Engagement and Leadership (including Maricopa Student Government/Clubs/Orgs), Diversity/Equity/Inclusion (DEI) Programs and Events. This person will primarily lead efforts to develop, implement, and coordinate Civic Engagement and Leadership initiatives for the student body, embedded in SCC’s programmatic Fields of Interest.The Analyst supports and runs all general Civic Engagement and Leadership program initiatives for students, including but not limited to event management, training programs, and other special institutional and community-based projects as they relate to preparing students to be engaged members and leaders of society. The position works closely with students, faculty, and staff. ​To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus, with the possibility of partial remote work depending on business needs.This is a short-term position with a projected end date of June 30, 2024, with renewal contingent on funding source. Essential Functions 45% - Program coordination: Provides leadership and coordination of all student-facing civic engagement and leadership efforts offered through the Office of Student Experience and Leadership; evaluates and analyzes national, local, and campus-specific issues as well as current and relevant student demographic and outcomes data to inform decisions made and approaches taken to program development, continuation, or evolution; coordinates activities of the service area where appropriate with interrelated activities of other programs, departments, or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications; develops, compiles, and writes communications and promotional literature for distribution, such as newsletters, brochures, or flyers; coordinates process from development through printing and distribution; develops and facilitates civic engagement/leadership-related workshops, meetings, or conferences; coordinates logistics, scheduling, and participant communications; meets departmental planning expectations ( voter registration) with an approach that thinks critically about community voice, inequity, power, and privilege in civic engagement programs; evaluates program effectiveness for continuous improvement; devises and implements evaluation methodology; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriate action; provides consultative services to management in establishing overall goals and priorities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies.45% - Direct student support: Serves as the lead/advisor for civic engagement/leadership-focused district and campus initiatives; interacts and liaises with students, faculty, staff, and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives; monitors changes and provides recommendations to management for action; researches, develops, and recommends inclusionary best practices; collaborates with departments in improving support to students on campus within the framework of their student lifecycle. 10% - Collaborates within the department, Student Affairs, and with all divisions of the College and the District which can include attending meetings, serving on committees, mascot management and coordination, and other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years (full-time equivalent) of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.ORAssociate degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years (full-time equivalent) of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.ORHigh School Diploma/GED and six (6) years (full-time equivalent) of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs. Desired Qualifications A. Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution B. Demonstrated experience in working with students in a college setting, preferably in an area of civic engagement and leadership.C. Demonstrated experience developing relevant programming, and providing service support through an innovative and inclusive lens.D. Knowledge and understanding of civic engagement, experiential civic components, action plans to address social issues, or working to solve campus or community concerns.E. Proficiency with technology systems to serve students effectively in physical and online settings.F.
