Break through at Brock.Post End Date:July 26, 2024CompensationTeaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ per hour. Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ per hour. In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.DutiesDuties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22 of the Collective Agreement. Under the direction of the wet lab coordi, the incumbent is required to be familiar with laboratory procedures and present an introduction to the lab, demonstrate laboratory techniques, teach and assist students during the lab, maintain safe lab conditions, be responsible for lab preparation and cleanup, mark lab reports, and attend meetings as needed. QualificationsA bachelor's degree in health sciences or a related discipline is required.Brock undergraduate applicants must be in their fourth year (Honours) and have successfully completed this course.Completion of immunology, molecular biology, and cell biology courses at the undergraduate level or higher is required.Previous experience in an immunology or similar laboratory is required.Workplace Safety and Biosafety training is required.Strong communication and organizational skills.Ability to build positive relationships with students and foster a supportive learning atmosphere in the wet laboratories.Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.Availability to provide constructive feedback both online and in person.Experience or training with online synchronous and asynchronous course support.Proficiency with online course delivery and management platforms (, Lifesize, Microsoft Teams, Brightspace, etc.).
