ABOUT THE ROLE The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Client Services Assistant in the Information Services department.

Reporting to the Manager, Client and Technical Services, the Client Services Assistant provides general and confidential customer/client service and office administration support to the Information Services and GIS department. As the first-call assignment of service requests, this position will contribute to the effective operation of the department through the employment of an empathy-based customer service approach.

QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications for this position include completion of Grade twelve (12) supplemented with completed post-secondary business, administration, or commercial program (between six (6) months and one (1) year), plus two (2) years of job-related customer service and administration experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Industry training and certifications such as HDI and A+ are preferred; however, this is an entry-level position in Information Services and technical training and mentorship will be provided as required.

This job may require travel to remote facilities, and by its nature may involve exposure to sensitive personal and confidential information. As such, a BC Class 5 Driver’s License, a Criminal Record Check, and an enhanced employee confidentiality agreement will be required.

POSITION DETAILS This is a permanent full-time (35 hours per week) Union position. The (2024) rate of pay is $33.78 to $35.56. The position offers an attractive benefits package including participation in the Municipal Pension Plan as provided within the collective agreement between the Regional District of Nanaimo and the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 401.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of business writing and grammar.
  • Strong familiarity with the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office software suite.
  • Experience with Android and Apple mobile operating systems.
