Job purpose The Field Training Manager’s (FTM) prime responsibility it to ensure the proper training of all new franchisees and the successful opening of new franchised locations. As part of this responsibility, the FTM will assist and support the brand with development and execution of all training processes, systems, and materials. You also play a key role in supporting ongoing restaurant training in the field.

Duties and responsibilities (but not limited to) :

  • Certified Training Restaurants :_

  • Working with operations, identify, certify & maintain a sufficient number of Certified Training Restaurants to support new franchisee training requirements

  • Act as the key point of contact for Certified Training Restaurants

  • Maintain and update the Certified Training Restaurant criteria as required

  • Develop/Conduct Certified Training Restaurant ‘train the trainer’ sessions with franchisees and employees

  • Follow up throughout the course of in-store training to ensure completion of training, reporting and identified action plans

  • New Franchisee Training :_

  • Develop and maintain documentation and master schedules for franchisee in-store training

  • Develop/Update/modify training schedules for all new franchises

  • Act as Brand Ambassador for New Franchisees throughout their in-store training and prior to their store opening or transfer

  • Ensure New Franchisees complete all tasks required to ensure a successful opening or transfer

  • Ensure MTYU and in-store training is successfully completed prior to opening/transfer

  • Maintain written training records and documented feedback for all new franchisees in training

  • New Store Openings :_

  • Lead and maintain NSO countdown documents

  • Update and deliver in-store training plan and schedule according to restaurant opening dates

  • Update and prepare all tools for new stores ensuring all materials are up to date

  • Deliver and maintain effective onsite training for team members and franchisee

  • Support the franchisees to ensure all business practices are met prior to opening and during post-opening support period

  • Complete all required reporting and hand-off of new store to operations

  • Restaurant Operations Support :_

  • Report and follow-up on Learning HUB completion

  • Execution of selected operational projects including support of franchise restaurants needing assistance and corporate locations

  • Completion of selected Restaurant Audits in support of BDMs as required

  • Assist with on-site re-training as required on an ad-hoc basis

  • Conduct in-store training and visits for new brand initiatives

  • Additional Training Support :_

  • Assist Sr. Manager, Learning & People Development with the following (when available):

  • Updating and developing brand training materials including, but not limited to, online content, menu & LTO training materials

  • Learning HUB maintenance

  • Facilitation support for MTYU

  • Participation in the MTY Richmond Hill Office’s Health & Safety Committee

Qualifications Experience :

  • 3-5 years of food service/QSR related management experience
  • Some previous New Store Opening or training experience is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Culinary, or Business Management is an asset
  • Knowledge and demonstration of effective training techniques, adult learning & delivery methods
  • Skills & Fit :_

  • Ability to multitask and perform in a fast paced, changeable environment
  • Excellent communication and guest services skills and experience
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Strong organizational and time management skills using Outlook, or other scheduling programs
  • Bilingualism (English & French) is an asset, but not required
  • Working conditions _

This person must:

  • Be able to travel approx. 50% with overnight stays required. Able to travel nationally and internationally and have a valid passport
  • Have use of a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
  • Be able to wear a uniform for their role as a Field Training
