Under the responsibility of the Manufacturing Manager, the Department Manager is responsible for the overall operation of their department, including safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, training and personnel management as well as for the supply and control of all raw material and consumables used in the department. More precisely, Manage the workforce while respecting the collective agreement. Manage the Production Shift Supervisor to ensure production targets are met in their department. Ensure department goals are aligned with those of the Company to proved maximum contribution. Monitor employee performance and take action to improve skills. Monitor machinery for safe operating conditions and generate maintenance work orders as necessary.Act as a leader in teams of occupational health and safety by always adopting safe behaviors. Monitor housekeeping daily by doing a pre-operation tour and ensure that SQF standards are maintained. Implement improvement projects related to health and safety, productivity, waste management, quality, and cost reductionAssist in creating written/visual job instructions with Manufacturing Manager and technical team related to our products and equipment. Communication plant regulations and safety standards to subordinates and ensure compliance and understanding from all. Assist Manufacturing Manager with developing reports and communicating progress towards daily, weekly and monthly KPI for production.Ensure department goals are aligned with those of the Company to prove maximum contribution. Encourage the development of ideas and implement changes as required. Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or administration in a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in a similar positionRelevant experience in manufacturing environmentExperience in a unionized environment is an assetRelevant experience in the printing industryExcellent communication skills, verbal and writtenAbility to analyze production reportsBilingualism in French and English
