The Opportunity:

Our client is a growing organisation serving customers across Canada with a range of water treatment solutions. As part of this expansion, we are supporting them in the hiring of a Safety Project Coordinator.

This person will be responsible for planning, implementing and overseeing our clients employee safety at work programme. The adoption of COR certification is a major milestone to be achieved and this person will be fully supported in helping to achieve this, including the provision of education and training budget on top of our clients great work culture and compensation offering along with flexible / work from home arrangements.

What you'll be doing:

  • Planning and implementing OHS policies and programs
  • Advising and leading employees on various safety-related topics
  • Preparing educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis
  • Reviewing existing policies and procedures
  • Adhering to all the rules and regulations
  • Working with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
  • Conducting risk assessment
  • Enforcing preventative measures
  • Identifying process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions
  • Checking if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
  • Preparing and presenting reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety
  • Helping our client to gain COR certification
  • Implementing Site Docs

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Ideally 3 years of experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role
  • Knowledge of legislations and procedures
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • 3 years of experience in producing reports
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Working knowledge of safety management information system
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Team player
  • Good time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety
  • Wastewater/water experience a benefit
  • Some experience of the construction industry
