Practicum Educator Chw Program

Using the “living classroom model”, the Practicum Educator provides evidenced based education using appropriate methods, including teaching, demonstrating, lecturing and peer mentorship in compliance with Bayshore policies & procedures, and CHW curriculum, at on-site location.

This is a Contract Part Time position for 12 months with chances of extension.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Using the principals of adult learning, the Practicum Educator will teach CHW students using a variety of methods including lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, interactive activities, independent and group projects, and peer mentorships.
  • Make recommendations to the Area Director regarding job suitability of CHW students.
  • Participate in program evaluation.
  • Organize and implement a preceptorship plan for each student.
  • Evaluate progress of students once they have completed core course components and make recommendations.
  • Stay informed about changes and innovations in Healthcare and the PSW field, and with approval; make the appropriate changes to curriculum.
  • Maintain student files.
  • Connect with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Provide timely feedback to students regarding academic progress.
  • Perform other tasks as required (on-call requirement as per branch schedule)

Job Qualification

Education

Graduation from an accredited Licensed/Registered Practical Nursing Program; current registration with the provincial regulating body.

Experience

At least three years of recent experience with progressive responsibilities, as a Home Support Supervisor, preferably in a community setting; strong track record in leading the development and evaluation of training programs; demonstrated ability to handle all aspects of human resources and interpret company policies and procedures; experience in business development preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to handle difficult situations in an objective consistent format; ability to work independently and effectively lead a team; above average report writing and communication skills with both Field and Administrative employees; valid driver’s license and evidence of current CPR certification, solid knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of community nursing and service delivery to clients as well as program development, implementation and evaluation.
