Reporting to the Infrastructure Operations Manager and under the direction of the MI Supervisor, the MI General Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining compactor units, Skid-steers, performing shop maintenance and supporting the infrastructure business. This position will also be expected to support the Magnum Cementing Services Operations division in the off season. This position is considered to be a safety-sensitive position. Job Responsibilities - Operate compactors and skidsteers competently and perform all required maintenance. - Assist with getting crews ready to mobilize. - Support the progression of Labourers through hands-on training and development. - Understand and assist with running water lines, bulk operation, chaining down the equipment for transport and location clean up. - Keep the shop and yard clean, including floors, washrooms, coffee rooms and wash bay. - Put parts and tools away in identified storage locations. - Assist with cleaning, maintaining, spotting and working on equipment. - Perform laundry duties and ensure cleaned items are put away in their designated areas. - Extract soil samples accurately and in a timely manner. - Participate in training and development activities. - Other related duties as required. Qualifications - Required - Class 5 driver’s license (not on the graduated license program) with a clean driver’s abstract. - Physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods. - Able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions. - Willing to travel for assignments, for up to two weeks at a time. Accommodations will be provided. - Willing to support other business lines in the off season. - Able to work long hours on a 5 days on 2 days off schedule. - Able to work overtime and travel. - Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of. Qualifications - Looking For - Worked in a similar environment (shop sites, remote locations). - Interest in getting Class 1 driver’s license. - Familiar with operating and maintaining equipment. - Desire to learn. - Strong work ethic, positive attitude, reliable, and dependable. - Flexible and able to adapt to change. - Understands the importance of safety. - Team player and customer service focused. - Demonstrated initiative and results orientated. Qualifications - Assets - Previous experience in the infrastructure or oil and gas industry. - Possesses safety tickets. - Mechanically inclined with the ability to perform maintenance on trucks.
