Dillon’s Communities and Environment technical group is looking for a Waste Management Planner to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available in our Dillon Toronto (North York or Downtown), Guelph, or Hamilton offices.

Responsibilities : What your day will look like

Waste Management Planning

  • Assistance in solid waste projects related to waste diversion programs, waste management planning and approvals, and waste management facilities
  • Perform assessments, calculations, data collection, and data analysis to support planning and engineering activities.
  • Assist project managers and liaise with waste management specialists, engineers, environmental scientists, and others on a variety of multidisciplinary design teams (including project engineers, planners, biologists, technologists, etc.).
  • Field work related to construction observation, data collection, and inspection.
  • Coordinate and manage project tasks, budgets and schedules.

Learning & Development

  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications: What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in engineering, environmental sciences or planning.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in solid waste management, preferably within a consulting environment.

Experience :

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, and keen attention to detail.
  • Aptitude to learn.
  • Ability to understand and work with relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, environmental policies, codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint is an asset
