Within the Correctional Services core business area there are two programs: community corrections as well as correctional facilities. Each of these program areas is broken down into closely related activities that have a specific impact on the program's target group.   About Our Opportunity Correctional Services requires a summer student to support educational programming at the Nova Scotia Youth Centre.  As a summer student placement, you will offer a summer educational program in collaboration with professionals from other disciplines to young persons who have been in conflict with the law.  Your interest in working with youth from diverse educational backgrounds and your previous experience will be an asset in this position.     Primary Accountabilities In your role, you will handle a variety of tasks; A few of your key responsibilities include:   Supporting students with Public School Program outcomes Offering individualized support to students to encourage achievement Utilizing formative assessment strategies Maintaining weekly student updates Working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team   Qualifications and Experience You must be currently enrolled as a student and returning to school in the fall (or in the next applicable semester for the education program). This opportunity is a perfect fit for students enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program. As the ideal candidate you:   Are an enthusiastic and creative pre-service teacher. Able to manage challenging behaviours Able to problem solve Are interested in creating to a positive learning environment. Able to contribute to team We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
