This underground operation is located just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa in Northern Ontario. This is a very exciting time at Island Gold, and we are searching for highly motivated and committed people to join our team!If you are willing to be part of a team that is dedicated to growth, high performance and a culture of safety and accountability, we would like to hear from you!The successful candidate will: Continually demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and risk management.Development and maintenance of the Island Gold Industrial Hygiene Program.Provide specialist services in industrial hygiene to the departments.Investigate actual or potential worker or public exposures to hazardous agents due to Mine activities. Prepare reports on the result of such investigations. Communicate to staff and management the results and technical recommendations. Conduct industrial hygiene audits and inspections and follow-up with corrective actions. Establish hazardous agent control practices and procedures. On request, assess line management's conformance to policies and procedures with respect to hazardous agents.Provide clear communications, technical advice, and recommendations on the effectiveness of hazardous agent monitoring control equipment.Initiate and conduct studies relative to hazardous agents’ management at the specialist level as required. Develop, as necessary, methods and establish techniques for field sampling and testing instruments. Conduct industrial hygiene sampling for task and/or area specific as required.Prepare and submit hygiene samples for laboratory analysis.Review third party summary reports of quarterly sampling results to include causes and corrective actions. Communicate relevant health information and sampling and monitoring results to management and the Joint Health and Safety Committee.Formulate and develop programs related to hazardous agent sampling, monitoring, assessment, complex problem solving and control. Recommend improvements and controls for safe work planning and discuss with Supervisor. Implement on approval.Provide management risk analyses and review of processes or operations to determine the need of monitoring and control of safety hazards to employees and the public. Assist in the formulation and review of technical directives, policies, etc., to minimize employee and public risk to hazardous agents.Perform hazard analysis, provide information, and make recommendations and advice to design groups for design changes which will eliminate or minimize risks to workers or the public.Provide information to line management on hazards, and control and protective equipment for a variety of chemical, physical, and biological agents.Act as an Industrial Hygiene resource to all personnel and contractors, as required.Assist in the implementation and interpretation of policies, regulations, guidelines, procedures, etc., to ensure protection of workers and the public.Participate in the development and/or delivery of industrial hygiene training programs as required.Liaise with the JHSC industrial hygiene working group to keep them apprised of workplace exposures and improvement strategies.Participate in walkthroughs and discussions with regulators on Industrial Hygiene related investigations.Provide recommendations and assist with the acquisition of Industrial Hygiene sampling and monitoring equipment. Ensure that the IH equipment is available and maintained to meet the sampling requirements.Perform other duties as required. Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products to include Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook.Experience with the operation and maintenance of sampling equipment and IH direct measurement instruments.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Perform accurate data entry and mathematical calculations.Ability to work with technical manuals and documents to implement sampling and monitoring for new exposures. Knowledge of health hazards to effectively anticipate potential exposures.Knowledge of health hazard controls (i.e. ventilation, DPM filtration, respirator and cartridge selection, and hearing protection devices).Demonstrate open and transparent dialogue in all aspects of work.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Ensure compliance with the applicable regulations, standards and procedures.Risk assessment to work safely in an underground mine and in proximity to mobile equipment. Education: Diploma or post-secondary certificate in an Industrial Hygiene related field with previous industrial hygiene experience in a related field.A degree in an Industrial Hygiene related field would be an asset. Experience: A minimum of 3 years of related experience in a similar position.Experience in an industrial/mining environment is preferred. Alamos Gold Inc.
