Preparation of sanitizing and cleaning agents. Support of Microbiology laboratory, as required, in autoclaving of waste and preparation of microbiological media as per current procedures. Shift Schedule - 7:00 am - 3:00 pm (Monday - Friday) Contract Role For 18 Months.Job Responsibilities Collect used glassware from laboratory, sort and prepare for washing. Ensure that labels are removed from glassware before washing. Load and operate glassware washer / dryer according to applicable SOP/WIs. Check glassware for cleanliness prior to restocking clean, dry glassware in storage areas in laboratory. Maintain a constant inventory of clean glassware and cleaning supplies. Check glassware for breakage or etching. Discard and dispose broken or heavily etched glassware. Operate waste autoclave in a safe, compliant manner according to established Standard Operating Procedures. Adhere to all work related SOPs, GLP and compliance requirements. Actively take responsibility for maintaining or upgrading necessary knowledge on Good Laboratory Practices and computer software skills as required. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of all relevant SOPs, Work Instructions and SWP's required for the day-to-day work activities, particularly those involving safe handling of dirty glassware and reagents / waste. Clean incubators, fridges, benches and document as per current procedure. Ensure that laboratory cleaning log book, preparation of sanitizing agents are reviewed. Clean Laminar flow cabinet and replace filters for the laminar flow hoods as per the procedures. Ensure waste is transferred to the Hazmat area on a regular basis. Complete hazardous waste disposal report. Prepare log books. Work as an effective team member to meet departmental goals. Sharing knowledge with team members. Performs all work in support of our Corporate Values Act as a back up to Chemistry Lab Assistant. Maintains compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Laboratory Practices and regulatory requirements. Zesponsible and accountable for compliance with all aspects of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Canadian Biosafety Guidelines as well as Apotex’s Health and Safety policies, and Safe Work Procedures (SWPs). Performs additional related duties as assigned Job Requirements Education Minimum Secondary School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good verbal and written English communication skillsKnowledge and understanding of GMP/GLP as applied to a laboratory setting Personal Computer literacy is required. A proven ability to work with minimal supervision.Good interpersonal skills are required. Working and/or theoretical knowledge of automated laboratory instrumentation such as glassware washer Proven organization and time management skills, as demonstrated through previous work and/or educational experience.
