Manager, Resource Planning

The Manager, Resource Planning is responsible for establishing and maintaining a strategic resource planning capability to support new construction and in-service support projects across Seaspan Shipyards lines of business. This role liaises closely with teams in the Program Management Office, Planning & Scheduling, and Program Finance to provide business support by developing integrated resource plans, providing resource analysis, leading the rolling wave process for L3/L4 budgets evaluation, and to support EVM process. Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Ave, North Vancouver, . What you’ll do• To manage and be accountable for developing and implementing a cross-functional resource planning capability (including determining appropriate policies, developing processes and continuously improving information systems) that enable delivery of an integrated portfolio of current and future projects.• To be capable of guiding the team for project resource profile generation and analysis by having full understanding of process & system integrations among teams such as Master Scheduling, Program Control, Capacity Planning, Baseline Planning.• To be capable of understanding the business strategy and demand about the ongoing and future programs, and to manage the team to develop the Resource Profile by highlighting the key assumptions and area of concerns and to perform the critical analysis to provide insight in Resource Planning view.• To manage the team to lead the rolling wave planning process by communicating closely with key stakeholders such as Capacity Planning, Assembly Planning, Detail Planning, Master Scheduling to build the credible plan of the program. • To be accountable for leading the discussion with CAMs to support the Baseline/ Rebaseline/ MYOP (Mid Year Operational Plan) development process. • Competent to provide direction and analyze by himself of complex datasets, to summarize the meaningful information into the right readable format to SLT(Senior Leadership Team) to support on-time and matured decision making. • To provide supervision, training, consultation, and assistance to team members.• To manage the workload of each individual, to build the team capabilities and structure to support cross programs urgent tasks to meet the deadline of top priority tasks. • To assist the Senior Manager for weekly/monthly EV management, to develop and maintain the resource plan for ongoing and future programs. • Be responsible for Goal Setting, Mid/Annual Goal review, performing in person reviews, and provides the final feedback to the teams.• Be accountable to flow down the critical information and directions from Senior Manager and Director.• Deal with all stakeholders diplomatically and effectively• Responsible for developing and maintaining the Resource Planning SOPs as annual basis, be responsible for supporting the future state of planning development.  What you’ll bring• 5 to 10 years’ experience in Planning & Scheduling field of mega EPC projects. • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Resource Planning in multi projects heavy industrial environment, preferable in new Shipbuilding industry.• Educated to degree-level in an appropriate field, or equivalent professional experience. • Competent in resource planning of large, complex capital projects including a solid understanding of planning, scheduling, project controls and data analytics.• Excellent knowledge of new shipbuilding Build general process such as Stage of Construction from Steel Cutting to Delivery of the vessel, and major Blue Collar trades to controlled through Resource profile management. • Excellent knowledge of new shipbuilding Engineering and Procurement general processes such as phases and major steps/phases, and major White Collar departments to be managed the resource profiles. • Excellent knowledge of Resource Planning process, methodology, interface with other planning elements, and scenario analysis skills. • Excellent understanding of norms & parts, EVM, rolling wave planning, DAP, SOs, Operations, etc.• Excellent working knowledge of financial accounting, purchasing and enterprise resource planning systems (. Primavera and IFS).• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.• Enhanced analytical skills (both qualitative and quantitative) including the ability to gather and synthesize data into meaningful metrics or analysis and interpret and convey results to a broad audience in simple terms. • Strong influencing, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate with others with tact and diplomacy.• Excellent attitude and demonstrated ability to work within a team environment under the Planning & Scheduling team.• Excellent task & people managerial ability; to work by him/herself and/or manage the team greatly under pressure, to have proactive mindset and leadership to complete critical adhoc task on time, to enjoy the cheer-up the team to work under multi-task environment. • Excellent time management skills, demonstrated customer service focus, demonstrated desire to create relationships that foster trust and loyalty. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.
