IT Technician I

The Wetaskiwin School Division requires a permanent full time IT Technician I. Reporting to the IT Manager, the Technician I position is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, installation and configuration of all computer equipment and related hardware and software within the District. The incumbent will also provide technical user support for District students and staff. Position holders are required to maintain and continually develop their technical abilities and knowledge in order to adapt and effectively attend to positional requirements. This position requires regular frequent travel to schools and sites within the City and County of Wetaskiwin. Please note there is a physical component to the job including lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, bending, crouching etc.

Specific Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide technical support over the phone, in person and remotely to end users
  • Configure, setup and maintain computers, laptops and Chromebooks via a variety of automation tools
  • Maintain, monitor and troubleshoot networks, software, printers, sound systems, projectors and Smartboards
  • Install wall mount projectors and sound systems
  • Commitment to the Health and Safety Program and training as prescribed by the Board
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 2016
  • Microsoft Active Directory user management
  • Google Workspace
  • Wired and wireless networking
  • Smartboards and interactive projectors
  • Classroom sound and paging systems
  • Operating system deployment tools
  • Minimum 2-year degree/diploma in computer sciences or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to work individually and part of a team
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills including communication skills and positive attitude
  • Driver's license (Class 5) and a clean driving record

Salary : $56,856.00-$74,019.00 per year
