Job Description : ***:Under the general supervision of the Superintendent - Logistics, is responsible for the cleaning and basic maintenance of the fleet, along with regular maintenance, deep cleaning and sanitizing of stations. Re-stocks supplies at stations and for the fleet as required, and calibrates/re-calibrates equipment, as scheduled.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Responsible for the regular sanitizing of Junot station, including all contact surfaces on a daily basis.
  • Performs scheduled and urgent vehicle deep cleaning, and completes required documentation.
  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance, such as headlight removal/installation, fluid top ups, door adjustments, and stretcher maintenance.
  • Cleans garage floors.
  • Performs warehouse duties, such as checking stock, replacing stock, stocking hospital supplies, receiving deliveries, filling orders, pharmacy pick up and other such duties as assigned.
  • Delivers contaminated uniforms to cleaners, as required.
  • Assists with movement of vehicles in both the city and district, as required.
  • Delivers supplies to district stations, as required.
  • Monitors sharps receptacles; secures and replaces as needed.
  • Maintains CO2 monitors, and recalibrates and changes batteries as needed.
  • Conducts O2 testing on devices, as required by legislation.
  • Completes all required paperwork associated with duties.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education/Experience :

  • Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade 12) Education.

Skills/Abilities :

  • Ability to effectively maintain equipment
  • Ability to perform standardized vehicle and equipment maintenance cleaning
  • Proven ability to function and contribute as an effective team member and to work independently
  • Self-starter with proven organizational and time management skills
  • Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Must be proficient in the use computers and current related software
  • Must possess and maintain a valid class “G” Ontario Driver’s License, or equivalent
  • Must meet the definition of a competent driver as defined by the corporation
  • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

Assets :

  • Experience with warehouse operations
  • Experience/knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance
  • Previous experience with custodial/janitorial duties
  • Up to six (6) months experience in an EMS setting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : This position requires the ability to generate force (lifting/pushing/pulling) up to 50lbs on an occasional basis; ability to perform carrying up and down stairs; ability to tolerate repetitive shoulder movement on an occasional basis; ability to tolerate standing and walking on a frequent basis; ability to tolerate occasional twisting, bending, and crouching

Occasional = up to 33% of working day; Frequent = 34-66% of working day;

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

  • Working beyond normal working hours and out of town travel will be required from time to time.
  • Must remain a competent driver as defined by the corporation.
  • May be required to provide a successful driver’s record (uncertified).
  • Must undergo a work fitness test
  • Must be in compliance with all immunization standards, as per the Ambulance Service Communicable Disease Standard Version 2.0
