The Associate Director, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to the Graduate Admissions, Records and Registration unit, representing graduate students across the university for the purposes of admissions, records and registration. The Associate Director is responsible for the overall delivery and assessment of the unit's programs, systems and services and establishes relevant policies, practices and standards in support of university strategic priorities, including strategic enrollment management goals. The role contributes to the overall leadership of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies by participating on various University-wide committees and supports curriculum and policies as a member of the Senate Graduate Studies Committee. The position is responsible for the effective use of resources and the quality and contributions of staff and associates in alignment with the unit's objectives.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Education, Business Administration or a relevant discipline and seven years of related experience, including five years of management level experience in areas such as post-secondary recruitment, admissions, strategic enrollment management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian and international secondary and post-secondary education systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of post-secondary recruitment and admissions practices in British Columbia.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the academic lifecycle of a graduate student.
  • Knowledge of relevant BC legislation including Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills and extensive ability to integrate and analyze large data sets retrieved from multiple sources in a variety of formats.
  • Excellent coaching, leadership, team management, and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent strategic planning, cost-benefit analysis, resourcing, and financial budgeting skills.
