About Raincity Distillery : We’re a small-batch craft distillery located in Squamish, British Columbia.

Inspired by the glaciers and grandiose mountains that swaddle Squamish, co-founders Alex and Johnny combined their creativity, engineering, and love for the mountains to launch Raincity Distillery.

Raincity embodies the spirit of Squamish, by creating locally sourced and locally made spirits that are glacially fed from the neighboring icefields.

Position : Apprentice Distiller

Who we are looking for : As the Apprentice Distiller, you will join our Head Distiller and co-founder in creating a fun and diverse line-up of spirits.

Currently we have 4 Gins and 1 Vodka that we make. You will be involved in the distilling process from start to finish of these spirits.

Besides these spirits, our aim is to introduce 2 new products every year. You will be involved in this creative journey, coming up with ideas, doing the necessary research and participating in taste tests. These spirits will aim to move beyond Gins and Vodka, delving into Whiskeys and some other Asian

  • inspired spirits.

Besides distilling, your duties will include performing many other tasks in our manufacturing department that may include bottling and packaging.

We may occasionally require your help at markets in the summer that require a knowledge member of our team to present our spirits to potential customers.

Responsibilities :

  • Mashing & lautering
  • Checking fermentation & basic quality control assessments
  • Pitching yeast
  • Tank cleaning & sanitizing
  • Cleaning and day-to-day maintenance of equipment
  • Bottling, barrel filling, packaging, labelling and organization
  • Some basic math is required for record keeping
  • During summer months assisting the sales team at the local Farmers Market
  • Attending events as a representative of the company

Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in a brewery, distillery, or any trade
  • Basic knowledge of fermentation and distillation
  • Exceptional mechanical trouble shooting skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • 19+ years of age
  • The ability to maneuver 30 kg
  • A palate that is practiced at recognizing specific flavours in spirits

This is a full time permanent position working 40 hours a week with a fixed distilling schedule. Depending on the distilling schedule, some shifts may be early morning or day shifts.

Some travel may be involved when assisting the sales teams at markets or tasting events. Travel will likely be to Whistler, and the areas around Vancouver.

Schedule :

  • 8 or 10 hour shift
  • 4 or 5 days per week
  • Vacations must be scheduled for when distilling has stopped.

Pay : $19/ hour for those without brewing or distilling experience.

This is a 6 month contract with the possibility of being renewed.
