Medical Clinic Receptionist

Ottawa Inner City Health is seeking a Part Time Clinic Receptionist for the Dymon Health Clinic located at the Ottawa Mission.      The Receptionist projects a positive and welcoming image of the primary clinic. This individual will be responsible for greeting patients as they arrive, assess the urgency of their medical needs in order to manage the flow of patients into the primary care clinic, advising clients of approximate wait time and informing clinic staff when a client’s condition changes in the waiting area.  The receptionist will attend to the phone lines, respond to inquiries, and schedule appointments.  The Receptionist also performs other administrative duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the clinic including but not limited to:  Client records management, data entry, word processing, photocopying, faxing, shredding, etc.  Receiving and distributing mail and courier packages.   Tracking office inventory   The ideal candidate will have:  Completed a medical office receptionist or related diploma program.  Previous reception experience in a not for profit or experience working with a disadvantaged population is an asset.  Good people skills required, must be open, non-judgemental, and willing to learn. Strong verbal and written communications skills A strong client service ethic to respond to diversity and to support the vision and mission of OICH and the Ottawa Mission. Ability to be assertive without being aggressive with clients and work effectively as member of an interdisciplinary team.  Have up to date vaccinations.  This Part Time role will include a mix of weekday and weekend shifts.    Ottawa Inner City Health welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
