Building Maintenance Worker

We are currently seeking an experience and proactive Building Maintenance Worker to help support all aspects of daily property operations and maintenance.

Key Duties :

  • Performs routine repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC heating and cooling units, sump pumps, ventilator units, exhaust fans, heat pump units and boilers
  • Troubleshoots and performs electrical repairs and maintenance such as repairing/replacing damaged wires, receptacles, ballasts, switches, fans, electrical fixtures, baseboard heaters, thermostats, change breakers, smoke alarms and thermocouples, as qualified
  • Address plumbing issues, including replacing pipes, tubs, toilets, wax seals and faucet systems etc. Unblock toilets and drains as needed
  • Performs general carpentry repairs and maintenance such as replacing counter tops, cupboards, wall tiles, sheet vinyl, installing doors and replacing locks, fixing drywall and painting etc.
  • Performs exterior repairs and maintenance such as cleaning gutters and debris from roofs, minor roof repairs, snaking drains with power augers, landscaping, snow removal and ice prevention etc.
  • Responds to service and after-hour emergency calls including non-maintenance calls and makes emergency repairs or calls emergency services
  • Supervises and arrange contractors to view sites and ensures projects are coordinated
  • Liaises with authorities on issues such as permits and licenses, fire and safety codes etc. as directed by Facility Manager
  • Performs other related maintenance duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS :

  • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by technical courses related to the work plus sound related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possess a valid BC driver’s license and ability to drive a light truck or van
  • Physical stamina and dexterity
  • Subject to criminal record reviews
  • Chinese bilingual is an asset
