Early Childhood Educator

Lion King Daycare Centre is a licensed non-profit daycare committed to providing quality childcare for all. We aim to provide enriched learning opportunities for children ages 1 year to kindergarten-age in an safe, nurturing, inclusive, and adaptable environment. Educators help children gain social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills through the use of age-appropriate interaction, play and activity.

Our programs include a mix of structured and spontaneous activities, allowing our educators opportunities to be responsive to the unique interests and characteristics of the child, and to facilitate children's exploration of the world around them in a warm, engaging, and safe environment.

We are seeking individuals who are

• attentive; proper attention to your children, understanding their behaviour and the contributing factors that may be causing certain behaviours or actions is key to creating a safe, enjoyable and enriching environment where problems can be dealt with and exploration and play can take center stage
• empathetic; young children require compassion, kindness, patience and understanding from those around them to help them acquire the necessary social and emotional skills on top of which all other skills are allowed to flourish; without this skill, play and learning become much more difficult
• adaptable to the dynamic needs of young children and the childcare environment
• team players; enthusiastic and driven to participate in and help foster a positive work and care environment where everyone feels appreciated, heard and feels supported in their work
• problem-solvers and creative thinkers

REQUIREMENTS :

• Valid Level 1, 2 or 3 Early Childhood Educator certification
• Current Infant and Child First Aid and CPR
• Current criminal background check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES: All educators will be working on the floor, some or most of the time. Duties will vary based on certification (Level 1, 2, or 3).

BENEFITS: Lion King Daycare Centre is a childcare centre that hosts up to 40 children, with ages groups of 1 year to 18 months, 19 months to under 3 years, 3 years, and 4 years and older. We are tight but warm and accepting group of individuals who love and care for children and work together to achieve our common goal of providing a safe and nurturing place for children to learn and grow until they reach school age. Being an educator at LKDC means having the freedom and room to conduct your own group, joint-work opportunties and learn from each other. Our program allows for our educator's to enrol their own children, has parking on-site available and opportunities and resources for furthering your education if you wish to upgrade and learn as an educator.

Salary : $17.64-$23.62 per hour
