Break through at Brock.Post End Date:May 13, 2024Title of CourseVISA 2P99 Introduction to Sound Design in Contemporary ArtApproaches to the conceptualization and production of sound recording, notation, field-recording, Foley arts, soundtrack production, experimental music and performance and contemporary sound art.CompensationEffective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.Duties Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).Qualifications 1. MFA or equivalent is required.2. Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.3. A teaching history that includes Sound Art as the primary focus of a curriculum is required.4. A thorough understanding of the history and applications of Sound Design, Sound Art, Sound Cognition, Locative Practices, Audio Hardware and Foley Art is required.5. Proficiency in Digital Audio Workstation and video editing software is required.6. A record of professional activity in contemporary art sound design and exhibitions demonstrative of standing in the art community is required.7. Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level; and in the area to be taught are required by providing copies of recent teaching course/performance evaluations.
