Sr. Project Engineer - Chemical - Brantford, ON

The qualified candidate must be a licensed P.Eng. in Ontario and will be responsible for managing projects and providing oversight and guidance over various disciplines/technical areas.

Completes and leads projects which may include elements of design, development, manufacturing, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance, providing direction to both internal and external resources as required.

Selection and design of equipment, piping, instrumentation, and motor controls on capex projects

Schedule, coordinate, and direct internal and external trade people on installations and modifications required for projects.

Initiates, monitors, and updates the project schedule and estimate. Closely monitors project cost and progress.

Develop a detailed scope document and a bid document that selects contractors.

Design and review mark-up technical drawings, including dimensional drawings, P&IDs etc.

Cultivate an open and inclusive workplace that fosters safety and transparency, along with individual leadership and accountability

Actively participates in PHAs, PSSR and design reviews

Working with Director, leads moderately complex projects for new sites from concept through post-implementation

Explains and presents complex information in a straightforward manner, by developing and delivering communications materials for internal stakeholders and vendor partners.

What we are looking for:

University degree in BS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience in a chemical manufacturing Industry background is required.

A minimum of 10 years’ experience as Project Engineer in chemical manufacturing is required, with proven track record of leading key projects

Experience in all project phases (Definition, Design, Procurement, Construction, and Start-Up) is required.

Must be able to handle fast paced environment with competing priorities and demands

Must have strong computer (MS Office) and project management skills

Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and business travel to USA may be required

Solid experience handling plant-level cross-disciplined projects including mechanical, electrical, process control and automation.

Strong decision-making, interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills

Excellent project management and leadership skills

Ability to manage multiple planning tasks and projects simultaneously.

Proven ability to function in a fast-paced and continuously changing environment.

A good understanding of software like Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

Familiar with piping code ASME B31.3, API Standard, and TSSA regulation is an asset.
