TITLE : Food and Beverage Manager (seasonal)**

REPORTS TO : Operations Manager**

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION : The Food and Beverage Manager at James Island Golf and Ocean Club has a primary role in establishing the F&B program on Island and ensuring its ongoing seamless operation. They lead and support the F&B team, work closely with the Culinary team, and have a careful eye on all F&B outlets.

Often serving as the senior server/bartender on the floor, the Food and Beverage Manager will have an opportunity to create great relationships with Members and their guests, and will use their observations of dining experiences to further improve the F&B program.

Meeting the needs of the position will require diverse experience in Food and Beverage and a passion for the industry and further growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Results Area #1 - Manage F&B program, team and areas :

  • Supervise, lead, and communicate effectively with all F&B service team members
  • Handle scheduling of F&B team and assist with hiring as needed
  • Hold daily pre-shift service meetings with F&B Team Members to discuss the day’s activities, events, goals, expectations, challenges and needs
  • Inspect F&B outlets daily prior to opening and again at closing to assess sanitation, organization, and inventory of F&B items, and to determine any maintenance, repairs, or additional cleanup needs
  • Act as senior server on a regular basis as the F&B team grows
  • Communicate daily with the Executive Chef and Club Management to ensure service standards and goals are met
  • Develop and implement Standards of Practice for all F&B outlets
  • Maintain ongoing inventory of beverage program and assist with ordering and deliveries, including establishing relationships with vendors
  • Maintain ongoing inventory of dishware, décor, and F&B equipment in all outlets

Key Results Area #2 - Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent and creative F&B experience for Members :

  • Assist the Experience Manager and Sales and Marketing team with event planning and execution, with an emphasis on on-site elements and day-of requirements
  • Collaborate with Executive Chef and Operations Manager on a program for F&B employee training
  • Maintain frequent communication with Housekeeping team to ensure all F&B needs within Member and guest accommodations are met

Key Results Area #3 - Develop beverage program :

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Operations Manager on the beverage program, training the appropriate team in wine knowledge, regional spirits, and proper service and helping create a signature cocktail menu (including non-alcoholic offerings)
  • Act as a senior bartender on a regular basis as the team grows
  • Establish relationships with local wine, spirit, and beer vendors to help integrate regional offerings into the program and explore opportunities for special vendor events on Island
