You will learn and produce a variety of joinery products such as storms, single glaze, thermal as well as store fronts, and doors. Special assignments will be assigned depending on your skills, abilities and incoming projects at the discretion of the Foreman.

About You : We are looking for an intermediate-level apprentice with a solid foundation in joinery and woodworking, who can work with mínimal supervision. You should be passionate about historical restoration and skilled in both traditional and modern techniques. Strong hand skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality are essential. You should also be organized, capable of managing multiple tasks, and eager to contribute to a supportive, family-oriented work environment.

Role Responsibilities : Advanced Woodworking and Joinery :

  • Operate Woodworking Tools and Machinery :

  • Utilize various tools and machinery to shape, cut, and join wood components independently.

  • Perform complex woodworking tasks, ensuring precision and adherence to project specifications.

  • Construct and Assemble Wooden Structures :

  • Build and replicate intricate wood structures and fixtures, meeting design specifications.

  • Oversee the production of wooden components, ensuring consistency and quality.

Blueprint Interpretation and Design Implementation :

  • Read and Interpret Blueprints :

  • Analyze complex blueprints, sketches, and design plans to understand project requirements.

  • Translate design specifications into precise tasks with mínimal supervision.

  • Design Implementation :

  • Implement design plans, ensuring historical accuracy and modern efficiency.

Material Selection and Handling :

  • Select and Evaluate Wood Materials :

  • Evaluate and select the best quality wood and materials, keeping in mind what pieces of the final product is visible to the customer and what is hidden (needs a lesser quality board).

Measurement and Layout Execution :

  • Measure and Mark Wood Pieces :

  • Accurately measure and layout wood pieces for cutting and joining, ensuring precise alignment.

Advanced Assembly and Installation :

  • Assemble and Install Components :

  • Assemble wooden components using advanced joinery techniques such as dovetail, mortise and tenon, and other traditional methods.

  • Oversee the installation of finished woodwork on-site, ensuring proper alignment and secure attachment.

Finishing and Refinishing Expertise :

  • Perform refinishing or repair work on existing wood structures as needed.

Quality Control and Process Optimization :

  • Conduct Quality and Optimization Inspections :

  • Inspect finished products for defects and imperfections, ensuring adherence to Vintage Woodworks' quality standards.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and efficiency.

  • Review schedule for your assigned work and plan accordingly to meet timeline for your product while staying in labour budget.

  • Through Sharepoint report hours worked, by assigning your hours to the specific job or task as you change jobs.

  • Share your knowledge and ideas at team meetings.

Safety Compliance and Best Practices :

  • Adhere to Safety Protocols :

  • Maintain and enforce safety guidelines when operating machinery and tools.

  • Ensure a clean and organized workspace, promoting a safe and efficient work environment.

  • Perform routine safety checks and report any issues.
