Work with supportive colleagues who are passionate about improving lives and champions for quality and continuous learning.    We are hiring a Therapist, Mental Health & Addiction, for our Trillium Program.  You will be an integral part of a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team focused on delivering seamless programming and service excellence to our patients. This position is Temporary full time for 12 months The overarching goal of the Therapist, Mental Health & Addiction is to provide appropriate, empathetic, non-judgmental and respectful care urgently to individuals identifying any sort of problematic mental health and substance use while ultimately helping the client to increase their quality of life and decrease the time spent in hospital. If you are looking for a company that is constantly moving forward in pursuit of successful outcomes, get ready to love it here!   What you’ll be doing: Conducts assessments for mental health and/or substance use, problem gambling, and other related areas of individuals to help guide in treatment planning Provide individual and group counseling utilizing evidence-informed practices including but not limited to: Motivational Interviewing, Stage-Matched Intervention, Trauma-Informed approaches, Brief Solution-focused Therapy, CBT and DBT informed approaches. Offer individual and/or group support/education to family members as appropriate Supports/complete discharge planning and safety planning as required Develops and presents psycho-educational sessions Provides a learning experience for volunteers, staff and students through supporting their observer role in group and/or by supervising students. Liaises with referral sources and other relevant community organizations as required Supports patient’s discharge planning through referral to appropriate community resources Assists patients in coordinating outpatient counselling and/or follow-up Participate in quality initiatives, track and monitors appropriate indicators Timely documentation and record-keeping   What we’re looking for:   Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a recognized Social Sciences program with addiction specific education Valid registration with the relevant college/governing body in Ontario, such as the Ontario College of registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), or in pursuit of relevant credential is mandatory. Certification in Addiction Counselling (ICADC) or in pursuit of relevant credential preferred Membership with Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CACCF) or in pursuit of relevant credential preferred Gains Q3 certification would be an asset Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in group and individual counselling Experiencing working directly with older adults in both traditional and non-traditional settings an asset  Awareness and acknowledgement of the value of using measurement-based care when supporting patients/clients to help guide clinical decision making; experience an asset Experience working with families and providing family counseling Demonstrated experience working with chemical dependence, gambling, and concurrent psychiatric disorders, mood disorders, Axis 11, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Major Depressive Disorders Ability to work independently as well as ability to work within an interdisciplinary team Knowledge of addictions along a continuum of care Engaging, collaborative and creative, astute to patient’s needs with the ability to adapt and be flexible Commitment to working within Homewood’s Health and Safety Standards.
