Betel Home Foundation operates an 80 bed personal care home in Gimli, Manitoba.

We are currently recruiting for a part-time Health Care Aide permanent day / evening position.

Position Summary : Assumes responsibility to assist nurses in providing resident care. Utilizes a team approach to ensure resident focused care in a safe environment.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum Grade 10 education and approved Health Care Aide Course is an asset, uncertified Health Care Aide will be considered.
  • Combination of medical training and experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in a related field would be of benefit.
  • Desire to participate in learning opportunities to develop self.
  • Ability to foster good relationships with staff, residents and public, thereby promoting resident-focused care and services.
  • Due to the high physical demands of the position, the incumbent must be physically and mentally capable to meet these demands.

FUNCTIONS :

  • Providing care to residents under the direction of the R.N., R.P.N. or L.P.N.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, bathing, dressing, toileting, escorting etc.
  • Participates in in-service education and staff development programs, team conferences, resident care conferences, and staff meetings.
  • Participates in the rehabilitation programs.
  • Reports accurately any unusual incidents and all observations made of resident’s condition.
  • Participates in the formulation of new policies and procedures.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies hygienically and ready for use at all times.
  • Demonstrates good body mechanics in all aspects of moving, lifting and transferring.
  • Lifts and transfers residents according to Betel policy and procedures.
  • Demonstrates use of all equipment in a safe manner.
  • Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of resident safety principles and practices in all daily activities.
  • Supports an environment which avoids, prevents, and corrects all activities or actions which may results in adverse outcomes in the delivery of health care services.
  • Provides a safe environment by ensuring the adherence to Workplace Safety and Health regulations and policies and Infection Control guidelines.
  • Obeys all safety and health rules and follows recommended Safe Work Procedures.
  • Informs supervisor of any unsafe acts, work condition, occurrences, near misses, injuries or illnesses immediately.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Workplace Hazard Materials Information Systems (“WHMIS”) and adheres to the procedures for handling and storing controlled substances as described in the Material Safety Data Sheets (“MSDS”).
  • Uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Demonstrates understanding of role and responsibilities in fire prevention and disaster preparedness and participates in safety and health programs including the region’s Fire, Disaster and Evacuation plan.

Job Type : Part-time

Salary : $20.09-$23.29 per hour
