Position Summary Reporting to their respective station Captain, the Probationary Volunteer Firefighter is responsible for fire suppression, rescue, tiered medical response, and public education and prevention duties. Minimum Requirements - Be 18 years of age or older and legally entitled to work in Canada - Possess an Ontario High School Graduation Diploma or equivalent - Possess a valid and unrestricted Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License or equivalent - Have or willing to attain a Ontario “D” driver’s license with “Z” endorsement within one (1) year or as available (Initial costs assumed by Municipality) - Have or willing to complete the local NFPA 1001 Level I and II program within one (1) year or as available (Costs assumed by Municipality) - Willing to complete the Firefighter Services of Ontario clinical and medical assessments including an acrophobia, claustrophobia and skills testing confidence course (Costs assumed by Municipality) - Provide a clear Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check - Provide proof of immunization from COVID-19 (2 valid doses), Red Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German Measles), Tetanus/Diphtheria and Hepatitis B (within Health Canada suggested timeframes) - Have a minimum of one-year work experience in the field of construction and/or various skilled trades, emergency medicine, large vehicle operation, fire prevention, firefighting or equivalent - Demonstrate past and/or current community involvement (e.g., volunteering, mentoring etc.) - Possess superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work cooperatively as a member of an effective and professional team - Have a strong desire to serve the community, possess a strong work ethic, sense of loyalty and duty, coupled with the ability and willingness to follow direction promptly and efficiently - Must be able to participate in weekly training and truck checks - Must live and/or work in close proximity to one of Middlesex Centre’s five fire stations.
