Little Kitchen Academy is the first of its kind Montessori inspired cooking academy for students ages three through teen. We are focused on providing a safe, inspiring, and empowering space for children to identify, develop and refine their senses. Through joy, mindfulness, and learning we are creating a foundation for a healthy lifestyle through responsible eating choices from scratch to consumption.

Little Kitchen Academy Edmonton Ellerslie is looking for Instructors who loves working with kids, execute on our core values every day, every class, every student (Health, Delight, Joy, Mindfulness, Learning, Empowerment, Inspiration). Instructors must be kind, caring, and patient and have a passion for living a healthy lifestyle

Lead, Support and Environment Instructor positions available.

Full-time/Part-time; Morning, afternoon, & evening availability. (15-40 hours per week)

Lead Instructor Responsibilities

  • Identifies the class list and notifies team of any dietary restrictions, special needs, or other notes.
  • Sets up Instructor trolley and special tools needed for today’s recipe.
  • Positions at the front of the kitchen and shakes every student’s hand, welcoming them into the kitchen.
  • Checks students in/out of the environment using the tablet to access Amilia.
  • Responsible for leading the work, reading the recipe, and time management.
  • Demonstrates the skill and encourages/fosters conversation around ingredients and equipment.
  • Engages with parents at the beginning and end of class but is not to be interrupted during the work cycle.
  • Clean and sanitize the environment.
  • Takes pictures and videos of the studentsto post on social media.

Support Instructor Responsibilities

  • Introduces themselves and assists students with putting on their chef coat and chef shoes.
  • Directs students to the hand washings station and shows each student how to wash their hands.
  • Asks the students to try to identify their name and invites them to their workstation.
  • Supports the Lead Instructor with the work cycle.
  • Walks around the workstations supporting the students.
  • Shows students how to clean up messes, breakage.
  • Helps the students identify where the ingredients are located.
  • Assists Environment Instructor with the collection of dirty small wares, appliances, dishes, etc.
  • Clean and sanitize the environment.
  • Takes pictures and videos of the students to post on social media.

Environment Instructor Responsibilities

  • Assist the Support Instructor with chef coats, chef shoes, and proper hand washing.
  • Ensure all ingredients are prepped for the day.
  • Supports younger students needing to use the washroom.
  • Answers the phone & the door when sessions running.
  • Receive packages and grocery deliveries-ensure accuracy of grocery order.
  • Flips, folds, and put away laundry.
  • Maintains cleanliness of back of the house.
  • Rinse dishes and run through dishwashing machine. Dry and put away.
  • Clean and sanitize the environment.

Skills and Qualification

  • Experience in teaching Montessori philosophy of education is preferred
  • Early Learning Educator Degree, Nutritionist, Culinary Arts, Business Development Management or relevant 2-year degree preferred
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with children, parents and staff members
  • Motivation and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace is an asset ( Docs, Sheets, Slides etc)
  • Creating brand experience on social media is desirable
  • First Aid, CPR, AED Training Certification (including for Adults & Children)
  • Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check
  • WHMIS Certification
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Proof of vaccination for the Covid-19 required

Job Types : Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Salary : Up to $18.00 per hour
