Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:As a Senior Design Developer – Advanced Concepts, you bring your curiosity to find creative solutions for a better way to innovate product for the mountain athlete. You are a passionate builder, who creates concepts that inspire discovery and experimentation. The role focuses on equipment (harnesses, packs, accessories) but you also support apparel and other categories when needed. In close collaboration with cross functional teams, you manage progress from conception through to a scalable proof of concept.This role is based out of our North Vancouver office and is open to hybrid remote work. Our unique methodology, mindset of sustainability and fanatic passion for product are at the heart of what we do.If you were in the Senior Design Developer role now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing: Developing unique and resolved solutions through patterning and prototyping in support of Advanced Concepts projects, ensuring alignment with Arc'teryx design philosophiesLeading complex and challenging projectsProviding guidance and mentorship to other Design DevelopersCollaborating with Designers, Pattern Makers, and Product Developers on new construction processes, techniques and manufacturing solutions that meet Arc’teryx requirementsBuilding partial or complete concept prototypes to allow for solutions to be tested, reviewed, and validatedWorking closely with our Pattern Making, Product Development and Fit and Pattern Engineering teams to validate and implement new fit and pattern standardsTesting various materials to assess suitability for various construction techniques and end uses, providing recommendations on final selection, as well as diligently documenting information and results throughout the processProviding guidance to the Sample and Design teams, responding to problems as they ariseHelping to develop proprietary solutions with unique intellectual propertiesSupporting in compilation of project scope, activities, and expenditures of projects deemed eligible for submission to funding programs (SR&ED, IRAP, NRC, MITACS, and so forth)Contributing to the future of Arc’teryx product circularity initiatives and goalsHere are some of the things you could be working on in the future:Developing and testing new harness platformsCreating the next fully circular productBuilding a proof-of-concept product for one of our Mountain Professionals to put to the testCollaborating with our ARC’One factory to fast-track new innovationsSupporting with exploring new product categories beyond where we are todayAre you our next Senior Design Developer? You have 7+ years’ experience working in a technical design environmentYou have a diploma or degree in fashion design, industrial design or the equivalent experienceYou are an expert level sewer, builder, and patternmaker, with CAD experience (Gerber, Clo3D, Solidworks or the equivalent)You are proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator, with the ability to pick up new computer applications quicklyYou are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutionsYou remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguityYou are able to balance autonomy and collaborationYou inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvementYou seek the best (but sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is rightYour passion for your work is paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living itA strong knowledge of Arc’teryx products and interest/involvement in activities Arc’teryx makes products for$91,000 - $140,000 a yearA reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$91,000 - CAD$140,000 at the time of this posting.
