A Day in The Life

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for the day-to-day HR functions, including Recruitment & Selection, Training & Development, Employee Relations, and Systems Management. This role will also be the first point of contact to support and serve employees, supervisors and managers on HR issues and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist hiring Managers in developing and implementing focused recruitment campaigns.
  • Manage the full cycle recruitment activities.
  • Ensure recruiting is conducted in a way that represents Layfield’s high standards.
  • Organize and attend career fairs for targeted campaigns.
  • Create and present all employee life cycle changes (employment contracts, amendment letters, status change forms) and making necessary changes in ADP.
  • Ensure all Talent Management System (TMS) evaluations are properly completed.
  • Assist Supervisors and Managers with performance management including coaching, progressive discipline, and terminations.
  • Assist Supervisors and Managers with the identification of training needs.
  • In coordination with HR team, facilitate training on specific topics, such as performance management and attendance management.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and work to resolve employee concerns.
  • Participate in the review, and redevelopment of Human Resource policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Employment Standards, Human Rights, keep abreast of changes in Alberta, and Ontario legislation.
  • Lead Social Committee to plan and participate in employee events.

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary degree in Business Admin or Human Resources Management, or Diploma in HR with relevant experience. A CHRP designation would be an asset.
  • Three (3) years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Working knowledge and experience working with various employment legislative bodies within Canada
  • Analytical with strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach.
  • Able to adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • A self-motivated individual who can operate autonomously but also as part of a team and is able to motivate others and build and effective HR team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication ability.

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent. Monday to Friday 40 hr. work week.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
