Millards is currently seeking a full-time permanent Payroll & Accounting Clerk with a minimum of two (2) years payroll experience to join our team. The Payroll & Accounting Clerk is responsible for processing bi-monthly payroll for all Partners and Staff, support Accounts Payable, Billing and Accounts Receivables functions as well as assisting with ad-hoc accounting related duties.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Payroll duties:_
  • Stand-alone payroll position responsible for the full cycle semi-monthly payroll
  • Process all payroll changes, adjustments and other payments
  • Manage and prepare manual calculations for retroactive payments
  • Process new hires and terminations
  • Ensure organizational payroll compliance with federal and provincial legislation
  • Maintain payroll database
  • Ensures third party payment requests and remittances are processed accurately and on a timely basis
  • CPP, EI, Taxes, EHT, WSIB, garnishments, RRSP/DPSP
  • Responsible for hourly year-end T4 payroll requirements, reconciliation of taxable benefits
  • Prepare ROEs and various payroll reports
  • Accounting duties:_
  • Bank Deposits
  • Data entry in various systems and data maintenance
  • Assist in year-end balancing and reconciliation
  • Filing and record keeping
  • Various accounting related tasks, as required

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • Post-secondary education in business, accounting, or a related field
  • Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation considered an asset
  • 2-3 years of payroll experience required
  • Hands on accounting/bookkeeping experience is also preferred
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong MS Office skills including Excel are required
  • Working knowledge of payroll/HRIS systems
  • Experience with Sage 300 (AccPac) a definite asset
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes and propose solutions as needed.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee personnel files, ensuring security, integrity and confidentiality of data, adhering to legal and ethical standards
