Massey Capital is searching for a dynamic and progressive General Manager for one of its Portfolio Companies, M.K. Rittenhouse, located in St. Catharines, Ontario. About M.K. Rittenhouse: Started in 1914, MKR has grown from a specialty sprayer manufacturer to a distributor of high-quality hard goods and accessories to the North American green industry. With each generation, MKR expanded its product offering and evolved to meet customers’ dynamic needs. MKR serves B2B customers in multiple industries including commercial landscaping, public works, agriculture and horticulture and is proud to offer a wide selection of equipment, pumps, parts, tools and accessories. MKR continues to manufacture sprayers, parts and accessories at its facility in St. Catharines and Beamsville, Ontario. The company stocks large inventories in multiple locations across North America, offering our customers the best and quickest shopping experience possible. Today, MKR has leveraged e-commerce to distribute over 70 brands and 25,000 SKUs from facilities located in Canada and the United States. The Position: Reporting to the Massey Capital Partner, the General Manager (the “GM”) is a dynamic and progressive leader who is culture focused and results oriented. The GM is responsible for daily operations and has accountability for all business functions: Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, Human Resources, Procurement, Shipping, Manufacturing, Accounting and IT. The GM is a strong leader, someone who inspires those around them to be at their best, someone who instills and reinforces a sense of purpose, excellence and dynamic growth within the work environment. Most significantly, the GM is a self-starting and hands-on leader while working in a collaborative manner with the parent company. The GM will have strength at building great company culture, a desire for operational excellence, and a passion for growth. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute short term and long-term business plans aligned with the company’s strategy, effectively communicating objectives and priorities to the team. Coordinates efforts and actions of key stakeholders to achieve company goals. People Development: Increase the company’s effectiveness by recruiting, coaching and holding staff accountable in their roles. Lead the development and growth of our people, modeling exemplary leadership behaviors and fostering a culture of professional excellence, equitable treatment and continuous improvement. Operational & Manufacturing Excellence: Direct the development and communication of operating policies and processes, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and driving continuous improvement in service, quality, and efficiency in the areas of product manufacturing, warehouse fulfillment and ecommerce sales. Financial Management : Develop and implement corporate budgetary and strategic plans, measuring overall performance and driving accountability across functions and operations with profit contribution mindset. Corporate Compliance: Champion compliance with corporate policies, as well as regulatory procedures ensuring proper business practices and code of conduct are upheld by all staff. Customer Engagement: Build and nurture effective customer relationships with retention and growth in mind. Develop and measure metrics of high performance and satisfaction and promote our reputation of quality. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications and attending meetings/ tradeshows as necessary. Leadership and Team Management: Direct managers and department heads to achieve planned goals and initiatives, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to drive success. This role requires the following profile: Leadership . The GM demonstrates excellent hands-on leadership. They are adept at articulating a team’s vision and objectives, empowering, and working through people to achieve results. In doing so, they can lead the MK Rittenhouse team to achieve stretch goals by establishing a trusting, collaborative, empowered and accountable team culture and ultimately develop the next generation of leaders. Results Orientation . The GM possesses the ability to recruit, staff and manage talent. This position demands the ability to focus on a clear set of objectives, articulate clear milestones, measurements, accountabilities and drive toward a successful outcome. They must be a “make it happen” leader who provides clear purpose/direction, MBOs, performance metrics, successfully achieves KPIs, and annual key initiatives. Accountability . This position has overall responsibility for managing MKR’s P&L, cash flow and balance sheet. By achieving excellence in customer, employee and vendor retention, we will meet or exceeding key performance indicators in these areas. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field Experience: Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in a multi-functional business-related role, with demonstrated strategic thinking and collaborative planning abilities. Proven track record of leadership in sales, marketing, and customer service to drive revenue growth. Strong knowledge of manufacturing and aptitude for streamlining and optimizing processes for scale Experience with high volume ecommerce website and marketplace product listings and fulfillment Advanced skills in change management, people development, and human capital management. Exceptional communication skills and the ability to positively influence and motivate others to achieve goals. Ability to multitask, prioritize, organize and delegate tasks effectively. Strong capability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels, from leadership to front line staff. Preference given to candidates with a background in horticulture, agriculture, lawn care or other ‘green’ industries. Flexibility to travel to business meetings and trade shows (5-10% travel) within Canada and the US. Ultimately, the GM should be driven by a desire to lead our business to maximum productivity and efficiency.
