  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate from an Ontario College Certificate Program or an

Accredited Program with PSWEPA.

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certified.
  • Gentle Persuasion Approach Training
  • Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario CPR (C) certification
  • 2 years previous hospital PSW experience preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health Disorders.
  • Knowledge and skill to maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Ability to complete the required environmental cleaning.
  • Excellent communication/time management/priority setting skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of asepsis principles.
  • Excellent computer skills (Intranet, Microsoft Office, Care Manager)
  • Satisfactory attendance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)

  • Monitoring patient that is in restraints.
  • Monitoring patients that require 1-1 observation.
  • Assisting patients as required with activities of daily living as directed
  • Reporting significant patient presentation when monitoring to ensure patient safety.
  • Providing direct and indirect care to patients, performing a variety of activities that support the

functions of all team members

  • Preparing rooms daily and in between patients.
  • Reporting damage or breakage of instruments and equipment.
  • Providing general support to the unit for day to day functioning.
  • Assisting with portering duties as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to assist nursing staff.
