Shifts: Days (possibility to work additional hours on evenings, nights & weekends)

Rate of Pay: $21.75 - $23.13 per hour

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Care, the Behavioural Support Lead TR will work in collaboration with the Behavioural Support Lead Facilitator to build knowledgeable care teams, and the implementation of evidence-based practices, research knowledge and expertise related to Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) into clinical practice within all care floors of Hogarth Riverview Manor.

Qualifications: Education/Experience :

  • Degree/diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies with Therapeutic Recreation course content (Therapeutic Recreation specialization) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated eligibility for registration with Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario (TRO)
  • Experience in creative Therapeutic Recreation programming as it relates to individuals with various types of dementia, delirium, metal health, and those with acute behavioural change

Skills/Abilities :

  • Demonstrated knowledge of P.I.E.C.E.S. and Gentle Persuasive Approach
  • Enhanced knowledge of family and caregiver needs that are best served by a behavioural support system
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Long Term Care (LTC) Home Act and Regulations is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to client centered care
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also independently, with mínimal supervision
  • Demonstrated regular attendance at work

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Valid Driver's License, use of a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance and willingness to travel between Long Term Care Facilities in the Thunder Bay area
  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
