We are looking for someone who :

  • Has experience working in a before and after school environment and can fully support

every age group and function within the program/centre; this includes the classrooms; cleaning and administrative support.

  • Has a strong understanding of legislative and municipal requirements including the

CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act,) and current public health guidelines.

  • Has experience developing and implementing an inquiry-based program following the

Reggio Emilia philosophy and guided by the interests of the children.

  • Can build upon the foundational knowledge of the “How Does Learning Happen? ” and

“Think Feel Act” documents and the Developmental Relationships Framework. Every day, you will support the operations of licensed child care programs by :

  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents,

support workers and community service providers.

  • Supporting the Supervisor in all aspects of the administration and operation of the

program including licensing requirements

  • Acting as the lead for program and staff support in the Supervisor's absence.
  • Creating an atmosphere which builds upon individual learning styles and celebrates the

diverse perspectives of the children and their families to remove all barriers that may prevent acceptance and accessibility in the program.

  • Ensuring the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children in

accordance with the CCEYA and MCRC policies and procedures, including MCRC’s Program Statement.

  • Using your experience to support inclusion of children with behavioral challenges and

differing abilities to foster their development, growth and success in the program and working collaboratively with their parents/caregivers and early childhood specialists.

  • Supporting the implementation of individual support plans for children with differing

abilities

  • Displaying and maintaining accurate daily record keeping of attendance sheets, daily

logbooks, accident and illness reports, medication forms, emergency procedures and actions, etc.

  • Being flexible to meet the changing situations and priorities of the program.
  • Setting up program space and supporting children within the program may require lifting,
  • pushing, and pulling up to 35lbs.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

As a Before and After School Site Supervisor you will :

  • Have a reliable means of personal transportation to travel to between the school location

and MCRC’s head office location

  • Work in kindergarten and school age classrooms with children from 3.8 to 12 years old
  • Work a split shift with hours before school and after school
  • Attend Site Supervisor Community of Practice meetings once each month
  • Attend Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings once each month
  • A degree/diploma in Early Childhood Education

or

  • A degree/diploma in Child & Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Ontario College of

Teachers

  • Proof of registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators [if applicable]
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR C certification from a WSIB approved training partner
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector screen dated within past six months
  • Dated immunization records for MMR, DTP, Polio and 1 step TB test
