Job Purpose - permanent fulltime

The Purchaser performs some or all of the following duties: The Purchasing Specialist is a skilled, organized and energetic individual capable of processing purchasing and inventory transactions (e.g. procuring belting materials to include base & raw, belting supplies, machine-related supplies and repairs, consumables, shop supplies, company-related goods and services), resolving supplier issues, generating purchasing reports and maintaining price lists.

MUST have experience working in a fast paced work environment and working in a high volume purchasing role issuing purchase orders.

Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to : The Purchaser performs some or all of the following duties:

  • Review approved requisition orders for accuracy and purchase as required
  • Generate purchase orders for all vendors, negotiate volume buys and discounts when applicable
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, vendors or others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
  • Approve vendor invoices and process purchases within purchasing authority
  • Proactively contact suppliers to schedule deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed deliveries and other issues
  • Track and maintain vendor returns and submit report to management monthly
  • Track and maintain vendor OTD and submit report to management monthly
  • Prepare and maintain electronic purchasing files, status reports and price lists to include following up on late orders
  • Check price from vendor and negotiate better pricing
  • Review/check vendor evaluation, based on performance, and send/share quarterly report to improve performance
  • Provide strategic vendor development with leadership team by researching alternative vendors

Qualifications :

  • OSSD or equivalency
  • Purchasing Certificate or equivalent experience, an asset
  • Must have 3-5 years purchasing/inventory experience, ideally in the Conveyor Belting/ Manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficient MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, an asset
  • Effective use of technology, instruments, tools and information systems
  • Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, teamwork, time management and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions : Normal operating hours are 8:30 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday.

All CCBI employees will be required to be available for annual inventory which will take place on the first business day of each new year and will require after hours work and possible weekend work.

Physical Requirements : Sitting for repetitive periods of time may be required.

On occasion, you may need to walk-through the production manufacturing areas where you will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals to include the moderate noise level and you are required to protect yourself accordingly.

Job Types : Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.44-$28.00 per hour
