We are seeking a passionate and motivated team member to join us as an Apprenticeship Recruitment and Support Specialist.

About You : What You’ll Be Doing : The Apprenticeship Recruitment & Support Specialist will work on our SkillsDevelopment Funded project. You will work closely with a team of staff who support the training and development of new workers, current workers, employers and apprentices. Your primary role is to promote the apprenticeship path to the general public, and support apprentices and employers with the apprenticeship registration process.

What You’ll Be Responsible For : 1. Engagement and Enrollment :

    • Work with the Youth Engagement Coordinator to promote apprenticeship opportunities within the Landscape and Horticulture industry to various schools and educational settings.
    • Work with the Youth Engagement Coordinator to manage relationships with the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and facilitate pre-apprenticeship transfers into our program.
    • Represent the GROW & Apprenticeship Programs at Skills Ontario events, LevelUp Trade Fairs, information sessions, and community engagement activities.

1. Apprenticeship Registration :

    • Lead the apprenticeship registration process, including employer registrations

1. Training Agreement and RTA Issuance :

    • Ensure all necessary documentation, including Training Agreements and Registered Training Agreements (RTAs), are completed accurately and submitted on time.
    • Facilitate Training Standard Orientations with registered apprentices and their employers/trainers

1. SDF Forms and Reporting :

    • Ensure all Skills Development Fund (SDF) forms are complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.
    • Generate reports as required to track apprenticeship registrations, participant progress, and program outcomes.

1. Apprenticeship Incentives Grant Management :

    • Manage the Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AI) programs, ensuring employers receive the incentives they are entitled to.
    • Coordinate with employers and the MLITSD to facilitate the distribution of apprenticeship incentives.

Requirements :

  • Previous experience in apprenticeship recruitment, enrollment, or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with participants, schools, and industry partners.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship programs and processes, including Training Agreements and RTAs, is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database management.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to travel to various program locations as needed.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with applicants, program participants, and staff.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to think creatively and take initiative.
  • An understanding of the landscape horticulture trades is preferred.
  • Experience in organizing and hosting virtual meetings and events.
  • Experience working with not-for-profit teams, chapters, committees, and boards preferred.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively.
  • Technical savvy with software tools.
  • Demonstrated coaching skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.

About this position :

  • Reports to the Manager of Workforce Development.
  • Landscape Ontario has a hybrid work model in place allowing for flexibility and fluidity in your weekly schedule.
  • Some travel to work sites and skills training will be required.
  • Our office is in Milton, ON at the 401 between James Snow Parkway and Trafalgar Rd.

Salary and Benefits :

  • $55,000 - $65,000
