About You : As the Events Coordinator & Project Assistant, you will bring excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a passion for event planning and coordination. You will thrive in a dynamic environment, where you will take the lead on event logistics, venue coordination, and speaker arrangements. Your ability to multitask, communicate effectively, and build strong relationships with venues, speakers, and employers will be essential to your success in this role.

What You’ll Be Doing : As the Events Coordinator & Project Assistant you will be responsible for leading events and providing administration for the Employer of Choice program. You will take the lead on planning GROW program-related activities for CONGRESS events. Additionally, you will support the recruitment of 100 employers into the Employer of Choice program, ensuring all internal and Skills Development Fund (SDF) funding-related documents are complete and accurate. You will produce reports and perform administrative responsibilities towards any employer initiatives.

What You’ll Be Responsible For :1. Event Coordination**:

  • Lead event coordination for the SDF Programs including the Employer of Choice program, including securing venues, arranging speakers, and planning event setups.
  • Lead the LevelUp! Trades Fairs & assist with recruiting member volunteers and oversee staff schedule.
  • Coordinate booths, solicit donations, arrange orders with vendors, etc.
  • Assist with event planning for OJT training events and hiring events.
  • Take the lead on planning GROW program-related activities for CONGRESS events.

1. Employer Recruitment and Administration Support :

  • Support the recruitment of 100 employers into the Employer of Choice portion of the GROW program.
  • Ensure all internal and SDF funding-related documents are complete and accurate.
  • Produce reports and perform administrative responsibilities towards any employer initiatives.

1. Communication and Collaboration :

  • Communicate effectively with internal team members, employers, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with the GROW team to ensure the successful execution of employer-related initiatives.

1. Administrative Support :

  • Perform administrative tasks related to event planning, employer recruitment, and program initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to employer engagement and program activities.

Requirements :

  • 5+ years experience in event coordination, preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with employers and industry partners.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and database management.
  • Knowledge of the Landscape and Horticulture industry is an asset.
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to travel to various program locations as needed.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with applicants, program participants, and staff.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to think creatively and take initiative.
  • An understanding of the landscape horticulture trades is preferred.
  • Experience in organizing and hosting virtual meetings and events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively.
  • Technical savvy with software tools.
  • Demonstrated coaching skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.

About this position :

  • Reports to Manager of Workforce Development.
  • Landscape Ontario has a hybrid work model in place allowing for flexibility and fluidity in your weekly schedule.
  • Some travel to work sites and skills training will be required.
  • Our office is in Milton, ON at the 401 between James Snow Parkway and Trafalgar Rd.

Salary and Benefits :

  • $55,000 - $65,000
