About the Opportunity : Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Booking & Registration Clerk is responsible for the entry of patient data, the coordinating of booking schedules, the gathering of information for computer development, maintaining the efficient flow of patients and medical records and assisting in the general organization of the unit. Eye Care Centre outpatient registrations and clinic bookings using STAR and PHS for clients having ophthalmology visits and related diagnostic tests and treatments or research are the main focus. Cross training for ophthalmology OR registration and /or booking office is an expectation. Unit is a high volume, complex environment.

About You : We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII plus one year related clerical experience or recognized one year secretarial/business program
  • Basic typing and computer training required
  • STAR and PHS training, and proven experience in a similar environment an asset
  • Adaptable to a fast-paced, high volume ambulatory environment with multiple demands on time
  • Medical terminology is an asset
  • Must be able to function independently
  • Verbal communication, attention to detail and speed skills are necessary
  • Coordinating, organizing and decision making abilities must be present
  • Ability to learn and work quickly and be adaptable to change
  • Commitment to patient care and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills required
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • Long Assignment, Part Time (50%); 35 hours bi-weekly
  • Approximately 12 months

Compensation and Incentives : $20.09 - $21.91 Hourly
