We offer flexible, hybrid work experience where employees work from the office and virtually. Desai Maruszki LLP is looking for a Personal Injury Lawyer with 1-5 years experience to join our growing team!The ideal candidate has experience with personal injury litigation, LAT and Trial experience, superior written and oral advocacy skills, and is interested in working both independently and collaboratively as a team player in a high paced environment.Role Responsibilities include:Independent management and collaboration on a high volume of personal injury files from beginning to conclusion;Conducting thorough file reviews to accurately manage and assess claims;Draft pleadings such as Motion records, Statements of Claims, Mediation memorandums and Pre-trial memorandums;Independently prepare and conduct client meetings, examinations for discovery, case conferences, motions and pre-trial conferences, trials and hearings; andPrepare and develop strategy for the resolution of complex claims in a timely manner.Experience and Education: Law Degree from an accredited law school (LLB or Juris Doctor);Licensed by the Law Society of Ontario to practice law as a lawyer in Ontario;1+ years of post-call experience working in personal litigation, ideally with trial experience;Intermediate knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and SABS;High degree of personal ethics, integrity and responsibility with an ability to deal with sensitive issues and safeguard confidential information;Assertiveness in practice, but reasonable and forthright;Interest in court advocacy, especially trial work;Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, combined with research experience;Excellent negotiation skills;Sound judgment, with the ability to critically analyze situations, problem-solve, and deal with ambiguity and have the ability to provide meaningful advice and recommendations;Ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple, yet sometimes conflicting priorities; andAbility to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.Interested candidates should send their cover letter and resume to: emma@desaimaruszki.com.
