True North Log Homes is looking for a dedicated accounting/finance professional to join our rapidly growing organization in the key role of Bookkeeper. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Bookkeeper will perform a pivotal role in overseeing and executing a multitude of finance-related functions within our accounting and finance department. Through effective communication and coordination with various stakeholders, the Bookkeeper is critical in ensuring the smooth operation of our organization’s financial activities, contributing to our financial health, and achieving compliance with our regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities :

  • Performs bookkeeping for all subsidiary companies within the True North Log Homes Group of Companies.
  • Conducts full cycle accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Coordinates the release of payments to vendors and suppliers.
  • Issues invoices to clients and processes client payments. Follows up with clients on outstanding balances and collects past-due payments.
  • Performs invoice corrections, including issuing credits, debits, consolidations, and cancellations as required.
  • Prepares payroll journal entries and processes employee payroll. Reviews Sales team member commissions and sales bonuses for processing in payroll.
  • Performs account and bank reconciliations.
  • Prepares all month-end reports and requirements.
  • Administers the Employee Group Benefits Plan and RRSP Contribution Program.
  • Processes Government remittances for all Companies - (EHT, HST, Corporate Taxes, WSIB).
  • Performs annual inventory count of all warehouse/factory stock. Compares and adjusts with accounting system for year end.
  • Maintains an organized file management system for both electronic and paper correspondence documents.
  • Acts as the central point of contact internally for any problems experienced by team members on our ERP system.
  • Assists the Controller with year-end processes and special projects, as required.

Skills and Qualifications :

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a similar accounting/finance role. Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset.
  • Post Secondary Degree/Certificate in a relevant field - accounting, finance, business administration, etc.
  • Working knowledge of accounting and payroll programs/software. Previous experience utilizing an ERP system.
  • Advanced computer skills - including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have a high level of financial acumen and a strong aptitude for numbers.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to input data efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong task management skills and the ability to work independently as well as cohesively in a team.
