That's why we're always looking ahead, and not just to the next project or what's next in our industry.   We're also looking at what's next for you and how we can help you build a career you're proud of.    Here's how a Buyer for our Ottawa office contributes to our team: Responsibilities  •    Purchases materials, services and equipment as directed and in accordance with policy and procedures. •    Identifies and selects vendor to purchase requisitioned commodities, meeting criteria such as price, quantity, quality, safety, and delivery date. •    Examines and analyzes purchase documents for completeness and accuracy of information; contacts initiator to clarify or complete information.  •    Liaises between suppliers, internal departments, and project customers throughout entire purchasing process: reviews specifications, supplier selection, expedites deliveries, resolves discrepancies, and evaluates and escalates potential risks that could affect project deliverables.  •    Reviews and develops a general understanding of materials, equipment, tools, and construction processes. •    Prepares and oversees the preparation of the necessary bid inquiry documents, bid tabulations, and select recommendations. •    Gains market and marketplace knowledge and builds contacts for products and services. •    Other duties as required.   Qualifications     1-2 years procurement experience in the construction industry.  •    Postsecondary diploma/ degree in a related discipline (e.g., supply chain management). •    Eligible for security clearance (Secret-Top Secret Level). •    Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.  •    Proven and applied understanding of purchasing techniques, procedures, and policies. •    Understanding of supply chain process, project life cycle, procurement best practices and risk.  •    Knowledge/experience in construction industry; understands terminology and processes.  •    Ability to develop effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers.  •    Ability to resolve conflict and disputes in a fair and tactful manner.  •    Results orientated with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines. •    Bilingualism in French is considered an asset.    PCL is an innovative, employee-owned company comprised of people who find passion in their profession and take pride in doing great work every day.
