Tax Manager, US and Canadian

Our client in Richmond BC is looking for a tax manager. Reporting to the Director of tax, the Tax Manager will manage a team and will be responsible for all aspects of Canadian and US transaction tax compliance. You will participate in tax research, tax compliance, tax audits, process improvements, and other department projects as assigned.   Position Responsibilities: Responsible for overseeing the accurate and timely preparation and filing of US and Canadian sales and excise tax returns Responsible for reviewing and approving tax compliance working papers and account reconciliations   Provide tax expertise and audit support Identify and mitigate tax risks Conduct tax research as required, and prepare technical memoranda where appropriate Effectively communicate with internal staff, taxing authorities and outside service providers on tax compliance matters Assist with the review and approval of US property tax returns  Participate in Tax projects as assigned Potential for travel – within Canada and US  Skills & Experiences: Proven work experience leading a team as a Tax Manager or Tax Team Lead in a public company or a public practice firm.  Minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in public accounting and/or Corporate tax department handling tax high volume compliance  Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Excise / Sales Tax experience  Business Degree/Diploma with emphasis in Accounting or Tax or Masters in Taxation  Accounting Designation – CPA (US or Canada)  Detail oriented with strong analytical, research and problem resolution skills Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Experience with SAP (or similar ERP systems) and an aptitude to learn new software  If this sounds like the role for you, please apply today!
