Rincon Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Climate Action and Decarbonization Planner/Project Manager who will collaborate within Rincon’s Sustainability, Climate, and Innovation (SCI) team in developing innovative climate action/decarbonization plans. Rincon’s SCI Team works with cities, counties, and special agencies throughout the Western United States on the assessment, planning, and implementation of climate adaptation and mitigation programs. Specific areas of climate action emphasis include carbon neutrality, electrification and decarbonization, water and waste issues, transportation, urban planning, carbon intensity analysis and low carbon fuel and greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting and verification. Wealso support our clients with adaptation and resilience with an emphasis on sea level rise, wildfire, water supply, urban heat and natural solutions.This position will require an entrepreneurial spirit, strong technical analysis and data management skills, strong communication and writing skills, and a good working knowledge of community planning. Rincon is seeking a qualified individual that has excellent analytical and writing skills and is experience with collecting, compiling, analyzing, and managing large, complex data sets to evaluate carbon emissions, development of innovative policies, and the tracking of GHG mitigation progress toward achieving established client goals.Rincon’s Sustainability, Climate, and Innovation Practice emphasizes team collaboration to assist our clients to develop and implement ambitious climate mitigation strategies and programs. Also, it provides the potential for a hybrid/remote work arrangement within California.Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:Lead the preparation and design of Climate Action Plans, Decarbonization Plans, Electrification Plans, and other documentsOversee and coordinate the activities of specific climate action or decarbonization-focused projects and initiatives; manage all project deliverables, timelines, and administrative and financial responsibilities of projects; and coordinate with clients and oversee the management of contracts and grantsUtilize various quantitative modeling methods and protocols and manipulate and utilize energy, transportation, and other types of data to model energy, carbon, and GHG emissionsPerform research for complex projects including modeling short- and long-term implementation costs, GHG reduction benefits, and other impacts Identify emerging trends, potential challenges and new opportunities; and actively participate in project-level and program-wide strategic planning activitiesOversee, supervise, manage and motivate staff; effectively delegate tasks to staff and provide clear guidance and training as needed; work collaboratively with members of the SCI TeamPromote a culture of ownership, teamwork, engagement, quality service, and customer satisfaction to our public and private clientsPrepare drafts of technical memoranda, meeting minutes, transmittals, presentations, and other written materialsWork independently and as a team to develop solutions for quantitative and qualitative problemsInteract with various members of public agency and private client staff on matters of sustainability and climate action and adaptationEnhance Rincon’s professional reputation and demonstrate the ability to be creative and innovative with these tasks while representing Rincon in a professional mannerWork closely with Rincon Principal(s) and Managers to promote our business interests in adherence with the company’s mission, vision, and valuesEngage with diverse communities and stakeholders and communicate complicated scientific and climate related topicsPerform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following: Bachelor’s degree in, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Accounting, Engineering or related discipline3-5 years of related experience working on climate change related projectsFamiliarity and experience manipulating and applying GHG dataFamiliarity with and experience employing economic analysis techniques such as Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) or Triple Bottom Line (TBL) methodologiesExperience managing budgets for multifaceted work programsExperience with data analyticsExperience translating complex science concepts to operational impacts and technological solutionsExcellent writing, planning, budgeting, and organizational skillsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and to manage multiple projects, deadlines, priorities, and teamsHighly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a teamDetail-oriented, resourceful, strong time-management skills, and innovativePositive attitude and eager to streamline and improve process and workflowsRincon Consultants, Inc. is an award-winning leader in providing quality environmental consulting services throughout California and is recognized as a ‘Best Environmental Services Firm to Work For’ by the Zweig Group. The base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000-$140,000, plus benefits and bonus. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys.
