Summary : The working Warehouse Supervisor directs and oversees the functions of warehouse personnel and assists in both the administrative and operational responsibilities as and when required. This position also requires the individual to work in a dynamic environment and exercise prompt decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities :

  • Scheduling and supervising the activities and the functions of the warehouse staff
  • Assigning daily tasks and evaluating the work of the subordinates
  • Ensuring the proper and timely completion of all warehouse activities
  • Responsible to ensure company safety policies are adhered to and safe work habits are utilized by all department personnel and visitors. Wears personal protective equipment as required. Ensuring the safety of all workers in the warehouse as per Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Inspecting and overseeing the inventory records of the warehouse for accuracy, in combination with keeping track of all inbound and outbound supplies
  • Regularly inspecting and ensuring the maintenance and safety of all warehouse equipment and machinery
  • Making inventory and evaluation reports pertaining to the warehouse
  • Participates in quality planning/improvement activities re: stocking of racks
  • Performs other duties as required within his abilities as requested by management

  • Understands and works in compliance with the Environmental and Health/Safety management systems, policies, rules, and guidelines
  • Observe standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. Specific accountabilities for safety include, but are not limited to performing regular workplace inspections, conducting/participating in safety talks, staff meetings, actively participating in accident/incident investigations, training new employees, identifying and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, identify, correct or commend health and safety performance and conducting performance appraisals for workers’ safety performance
  • Regularly operate forklift equipment, including accessing new employee ability to operate the equipment and provide training to new employees on the safe operation of the forklift equipment

Shift Requirements :

  • Afternoon Shift 10:00am - 6:00pm
  • Flexibility is required to work Day shifts, 7:00am - 3:00pm, as business needs require

  • Ability to effectively lead a team, delegate, supervise functions and keep employees motivated. Must have people skills for working with individuals and teams.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to solve crisis.
  • Strong interpersonal, conciliation skills and the capacity to network with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of safety standards (and Industrial Accident Investigation Reporting).
  • Must have good organizational skills, be a self-starter and a team player.
  • Experienced licensed lift truck driver.
  • Must be computer literate.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma in supply chain management, general administration from a certified college, or equivalent experience
  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of bar-coding systems
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in warehousing facility activities at a Supervisory level
