The Opportunity This position is for a 1.0 FTE Research Manager position within the new Breast Health Research Unit at the IWK. The successful candidate will work directly with the new Unit’s Directors Drs. Gregory Knapp and Ashley Drohan to move the needle on breast health in Nova Scotia. The Unit will have a provincial mandate to first measure and then improve access and outcomes to breast health services. With a 5-year term, the Unit will benchmark existing key quality indicators for breast cancer across the province, while simultaneously rolling out a provincial database with patient-reported outcomes measures. The goal is to swiftly quantify areas within the breast health system that require targeted policy or intervention and measure change prospectively. The Unit will coordinate existing breast health research initiatives within the Breast Health Clinic at the IWK while expanding data capture and outcome measurement across the province. The Research Manager will be expected to play a direct role in executing and coordinating this mission.  This is a 5-year project with a yearly contract with possibility of renewal. Work location and hours will be flexible, although a physical presence in Halifax is required. Office space and IT equipment will be provided.  Hours of Work Monday - Friday Your Qualifications The successful candidate must hold a graduate degree in a related field and be familiar with the heath research environment within Nova Scotia Health and the IWK. Experience working with both organizations is major asset, as is hands on experience with complex research ethics board applications and project delivery on a provincial scale. Previous experience managing a team of junior staff in the unique environment of health research and innovation is required. Experience working with research staff and well as health professionals, including resident doctors, medical students, nursing and pharmacy is a desirable asset. Detailed working knowledge of database software such as REDCap and statistical software packages is highly desirable.
