Manufacturing Department Technician

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR : This is a full-time position based at the VIH Aerospace facility in Sidney, BC, Canada.

Relocation services are not included in this opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Fabricate, assemble, and repair mechanical, sheet metal parts and soft goods.
• Complete logs or worksheets for all work accomplished as directed.
• Maintain and ensure a safe working environment.
• Inspection of parts using a variety of precision measuring tools.
• Assemble, rig and test aircraft components.
• Read and understand technical manuals and instructions, and be able to use technical drawings, data, and standards.
• Used basic and special tooling.

REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS :

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Completion of a recognized course of studies achieving an AME certification either S or M is preferred.
• An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods.
• A good knowledge of material properties.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Good MS Office skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, drawings and instructions.
• Experience in "shop" environment (machine shop, sheet metal, welding, technical assembly).
• Ability to follow directions provided.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities.
• The ability to work overtime or unusual shifts, as required.
• Possess a valid driver's license and good drivers abstract.
