Job title : Mechanical Assembly Technician

Location : In person - Cape Brenton

Kraken Sense our goal is to make pathogen detection quick, easy, and accessible to everyone. With food and water resources coming under greater and greater strain, we aim to revolutionize rapid pathogen detection to reduce resource waste and champion public health and safety. We are currently developing the KRAKEN: a fully autonomous device that can alert of microbe contamination in real time. As delays in pathogen detection can have devastating health and economic consequences, such as foodborne illness outbreaks, infectious disease epidemics, and massive resource loss, the KRAKEN is designed to catch contamination before it spreads.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of shop components and tools inventory
  • Shipping and receiving activities
  • Ensure proper inventory levels and process orders and audits as needed
  • Maintain prototyping shop facility organization and cleanliness on daily and regular basis
  • Comply with policies, rules and regulations and reporting requirements relating to safety/heath, performance standards, operating procedures, processes, and training
  • Assemble, repair, rework and/or troubleshoot complex opto-mechanical system
  • Assemble and repair the Kraken system
  • Process 3D model print request activities
  • Receive and prioritize all requests
  • CAD model pre-processing and validation, and benchmark costing
  • Manage queues and execute 3D prints
  • Post process 3D prints
  • Inspect 3D-printed models for quality
  • Assist with repair, upgrade and installation of various software and hardware related to Digital Manufacturing Laboratory facility
  • Package and process shipping
  • Confirm completion, update logs and notify recipients

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Diploma in Mechanical Technology or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical background, familiarity with reading and understanding technical drawings and schematics
  • Thorough understanding of techniques in the use of hand tools and measurement equipment
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and repair
  • Experience generating engineering drawings including GD&T Principles
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor CAD software and structural analysis
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

  • Organization : Keep a thorough record of all testing, including (but limited to): testing protocols, materials, and testing outcomes.
  • Autonomous : Able to work efficiently independently (when needed).
  • Team player : Has the mindset of “success for one is success for all”.

Salary : $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
