About the Role: As a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), you will be responsible for guiding, teaching, and ensuring the safety of children between infant to school age at centres located in Ottawa, Ontario . Your responsibilities include maintaining a high-quality environment, assessing, observing, and caring for the individual needs of every child, and maintaining professional communication with parents and co-workers. As a supply educator, communication of significance must be shared with the supervisor onsite. Key Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is to implement the lead teacher’s program and daily activities. If no plan exists, plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program plan. Provide constant supervision and prioritize the safety of children; understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and Sentient HR policies and procedures. Work cooperatively as a team member, encourage others to do likewise, and consistently maintain a positive attitude. Complete required documentation of children’s development and interactions. Report any issues or concerns that may arise in accordance with proper procedures. Direct and participate with children in all planned activities. Use well-developed interpersonal and relationship-building skills; establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and parents. Perform other duties as assigned. What are we looking for? To be successful in this position, you must have 6+ months of experience working with children in a licensed childcare centre. Additional requirements: An Early Childhood Educator Diploma from a recognized Ontario College. Registered (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE). Knowledge of AQI, How Does Learning Happen (HDLH), and CCEYA. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and building a sense of belonging. Ability to manage children with challenging behaviors and communicate effectively. Professionalism, strong work ethics and excellent teamwork skills. A clear Vulnerable Sector Police check within the last six months. A valid Standard First Aid and CPR certificate.  A completed Sentient Medical Form completed (will be sent to you as part of the onboarding process). Reliable transportation: ability to commute within Ottawa is necessary. Working Conditions: Occasional light to medium physical effort; lifting, bending and stooping.
